Wedding , What to Wear to a Wedding , wedding dress
During the month of January, we were invited to a wedding reception to be held at a chic night club downtown. The couple had recently tied the knot in a private ceremony, followed by a tropical honeymoon. I knew that this would not be your traditional wedding reception, and I was really looking forward to the evening. I love weddings in general, but could tell that this one was going to be especially fun. Many of our friends were invited, and I anticipated good music and lots of dancing.
Outfit Planning
So, in planning what I was going to wear, I decided to take advantage of the fact that I had not seen the inside of a night club in several years. I wanted my outfit to be edgier than it would be for a more traditional reception. The weather was also a concern - it would probably be cold (although that's not a given in New Orleans in January). It seemed like a fabulous opportunity to break out my over-the-knee boots!
As expected, we had a great time at the reception. There was a photo booth, which was a lot of laughs. We took several pictures with different groups of friends crammed into the booth. Each person was given a photo, and a copy of that photo was placed in a book where we could write notes to the bride and groom. There was great music and non-stop dancing. There were no formal pictures to waste valuable party time, but the professional photographer never stopped taking pictures of folks eating, drinking, laughing, and dancing.
As I had anticipated, it was one of the best "weddings" I've been to in a long time. Not surprisingly, like-minded fashionistas also took the opportunity to have fun dressing for the occasion - there was lots of leather and suede, over-the-knee boots, and some fringe!
About the Outfit
I enjoy mixing moderately-priced brands with luxury brands. Most often, I will accessorize with luxury investment pieces, and follow bolder trends by purchasing less expensive items "for fun".
